The gearbox is an electro Hydraulically operated by paddle manual 6 speed controlled system. Both the construction of the chassis and paddle shift gear system are similar to the modern race cars. The Vanquish broke new ground for Aston Martin and it was the flagship motor car of the period. The vehicle was very much a bespoke purchase and every car was made to order by hand by a designated team of craftsman at its original Newport Pagnell works. In the 6 year production period only 2578 of these unique motor cars were delivered to customers worldwide. 1492 Vanquish and 1086 of the modified Vanquish S. The Vanquish produced 460BHP and the S 520BHP but interestingly the Vanquish achieved 0-60 in 4.5 seconds whereas the S took I second more at 4.6. The Vanquish was the very last production car made at the original Newport Pagnell works as production of all cars was transferred to the new Gaydon production unit and all new models were made on a production line thereafter. The Vanquish featured in the James Bond film Die Another Day and has been voted number 3 in best Bond cars ever.
The car was always garaged we believe by the first owner and as part of his car collection the current owner has kept it in excellent storage conditions when not having the occasional but regular use. A new set of tyres were fitted to the car in April 2020 with the mileage at about 19000.
This is an opportunity to acquire a fabulous motor car in truly fantastic condition with a continuous service history and with only 2 owners since new. The significance of the Aston Martin Vanquish to the company and its well deserved place in the history as well as the very low production number will ensure the increasing value of these great cars as they will continue to be a true Classic Aston Martin.
The Vanquish is widely accepted as being one of the most important cars developed by Aston Martin since the turn of this century and heavily influenced the direction of the company’s line up of sports cars in modern times. Aston Martin have just this year celebrated 20 years of the Vanquish and amongst the accolades and appreciations of the Vanquish and its designer the foresighted and gifted Ian Callum it was acknowledged that prior to the Vanquish the company was still by and large making very conventional British sports cars. But the Vanquish with its radical and highly developed innovations changed all that and sent the company into new and exciting directions. From the very conventional chassis construction that the company were utilising the Vanquish was conceived with a Bonded Aluminium tub as the core of the vehicle and as part of the chassis with carbon fibre struts welded to this as the backbone.
The car offered here was ordered at the Park Lane showroom of Aston Martin by a gentleman from Surrey and registered in March 2004. The vehicle was fully equipped with all the latest extras and cost the princely sum of £165,000.00. The car has a full service history with its first owner and of note is that a new clutch was fitted in 2013 at which time the clutch was uprated to the later Vanquish S clutch system. The mileage at that time was 15683 miles. However it appears that the vehicle had very little use since that time as it changed hands to the present owner in March 2014 with the mileage showing just 15753 miles. During the current ownership the car has been looked after regardless of cost and always serviced by accredited Aston Martin specialists and with the full service history being maintained. The current mileage is 19700 miles only so this is a full service history car maintained regardless of cost with only 2 owners from new and less than 20,000 miles in 17 years.
